Pre-Nursing

Students in the Pre-Nursing program learn the fundamentals of the human body including anatomy, physiology and disease process of the human body.

Through service and project-based learning, Pre-Nursing students will have the opportunity to take on a variety of real-world design work in collaboration with their instructor and classmates.

Through work-based learning, Pre-Nursing students may have the opportunity to complete a semester-long or school-year long internship at a local business, assisting with duties within the healthcare scope. Duties may include greeting and room patients, patient interview, a variety of CLIA waived testing, patient education and scheduling along with many more skills.

Students completing the Pre-Nursing program at the EACC will be prepared and have the required knowledge for the next step in their career journey, whether it’s college or directly into the career field.

During their two years at the EACC, Pre-Nursing students will have the opportunity to earn 27.5 college credits through dual enrollment at Ivy Tech, at no charge to the student/family and by simply successfully completing the EACC program. Students who complete the program will have the opportunity to test for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification and the potential to test for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician as well as the Certified EKG Technician certification. All students participating in the Pre-Nursing program will be certified in CPR through the American Heart Association within the first year of enrollment.

Additionally, students who complete dual enrollment courses ENG 111 (College English) and IVYT 106 (Career Exploration) either through their home high school or the EACC, can earn a Healthcare Specialist Technical Certificate from Ivy Tech Community College.
