At EACC, we are committed to providing students with meaningful and real-world learning experiences that help them explore their career interests, develop essential skills, and make informed decisions about their future. Internships play a pivotal role in achieving these goals. By hosting an EACC intern, employers have the opportunity to positively influence the trajectory of a young person’s life.
Internships offer students a chance to apply their classroom learning in a professional setting, allowing them to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The skills and knowledge they gain during their time at a work site will not only prepare them for their future careers but also instill in them a strong work ethic, problem-solving abilities, and a greater sense of responsibility.
What is an internship?
- Internships last for weeks, months, or the entire school year.
- Students must complete 75+ hours total at one work site.
- Internships provide students with an opportunity to work hands-on in their field of study.
- Recommended for Senior Year, designed for hands-on learning
Are EACC students ready for a hands-on internship experience?
Yes! Internships are generally recommended for seniors, or year two students.
Year One: Highly-Focused Classroom Instruction, Focused on Occupational & Workplace Skills
During their first year at the EACC, students will focus on learning the hands-on workplace skills needed, attaining their graduation requirements, exploring areas of speciality, and potentially completing an observational job shadow.
Year Two: Internship Ready!
Year Two students have acquired the technical skills and workplace readiness skills necessary to immediately begin making a positive difference at a worksite. Supervisors will find EACC students well-prepared with basic and intermediate skills, and eager to learn from industry professionals as they transition from a classroom setting into the workforce.
