Diesel Service Technology

Students in the Diesel Service Technology program learn the fundamentals of shop safety, diesel engines, drivetrains, steering and suspension, brakes, electrical, and preventative maintenance.

Through project-based learning, Diesel Service Technology students will have the opportunity to take on a variety of real-world projects in collaboration with their instructor and classmates.

Through work-based learning, Diesel Service Technology students may have the opportunity to complete a semester-long or school-year long internship at a local business, assisting with entry level repair tasks and working with experienced technicians at fleets, independent repair shops, truck, heavy equipment and agricultural dealerships.

Students completing the Diesel Service Technology program at the EACC will be prepared and have the required knowledge for the next step in their career journey, whether it’s college or directly into the career field.

During their two years at the EACC, Diesel Service Technology students will have the opportunity to earn 16 college credits through dual enrollment at Ivy Tech, at no charge to the student/family and by simply successfully completing the EACC program. Students who complete the program will have the opportunity to test for ASE Certification 1 - 9 and OSHA 10 certification.

Additionally, students who complete dual enrollment courses can earn a Truck Chassis Systems Certificate from Ivy Tech Community College.
