Develop Your Skills

Students in the CNC Machining program learn the fundamentals of manufacturing safety practices, manual machine operation, CNC machine operation, metallurgy, computer aided design, and CNC programming.

Through service and project-based learning, CNC Machining students will have the opportunity to take on a variety of CNC machining projects and clients in collaboration with their instructor and classmates.

Through work-based learning, CNC Machining students may have the opportunity to complete a semester-long or school-year long paid internship at a local manufacturing facility, learning and making parts through various different industrial machines.

Year One Curriculum

Provide students with a basic understanding of the processes and equipment used to create and produce objects and manufactured goods that are used in everyday life using industrial machines
Classroom instruction and labs will focus on shop safety, measurements, blueprint reading, shop math, the science of the different materials used in manufacturing, and all industrial machinery used to shape and form finished manufactured goods

Year Two Curriculum

CNC Machining students will build on fundamentals they learned during the first year, building a foundation in computerized manufacturing
Students will learn how to set up, program and run a Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) machine that will create and form manufactured goods
Students will also learn how to use CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) software to design and create manufactured goods

Make Your Mark

Students completing the CNC Machining program at the EACC will be prepared and have the required knowledge for the next step in their career, whether it's college or directly into the workforce.

During their two years at the EACC, CNC Machining students will have the opportunity to earn 27 college credits through dual enrollment at Ivy Tech and Vincennes University, at no charge to the student/family and by simply successfully completing the EACC program. Students who complete the program will have the opportunity to test for NIMS Machining Level I - CNC Mill Operations certification.

Additionally, students who complete dual enrollment courses MATH 123 (Quantitative Reasoning) and IVYT 106 (Career Exploration) either through their home high school or the EACC, can earn a Machine Tool Technology Certificate from Ivy Tech Community College.
