CAD: Computer Aided Drafting

Students in the CAD program learn the fundamentals of computer drafting and design, plotting, mechanical drafting, architectural drafting, 2D and 3D drawing, rendering, and animation, as well as 3d printing.

Through project-based learning, CAD students will have the opportunity to take on a variety of real-world types of drafting projects and clients in collaboration with their instructor and classmates.

Through work-based learning, CAD students may have the opportunity to complete a semester-long or school-year long internship at a local business, assisting with mechanical or architectural drafting and design.

Students completing the CAD program at the EACC will be prepared and have the required knowledge for the next step in their career journey, whether it’s college or going directly into the career field.

During their two years at the EACC, CAD students will have the opportunity to earn 18 college credits through dual enrollment at Ivy Tech, at no charge to the student/family by successfully completing the EACC program with a grade of "C" or better. Students who complete the program will have the opportunity to take the AutoCAD Certified User's Exam, the industry standard for certification. 

Additionally, students who complete dual enrollment courses ENG 111 (College English), MATH 123 (Quantitative Reasoning), COMM 101 (Communication), and IVYT 106 (Career Exploration) either through their home high school or the EACC, can earn a CAD Certificate from Ivy Tech Community College.
